I’m always optimistic, but I’m now hopeful for the first time in a long time
The thing many people don’t realize about me is that I’m not a Republican
I would say that I’m slightly right of center, but I’m certainly not bound by party loyalties
If I currently stand with the Republican Party, it is because they are the only ones that are speaking about the things that I care about: free speech, truth, personal freedoms
The past 18 months have been a nightmare and not just because of the pandemic
I’ve watched the world I live in go crazy, yet it seems like half the people don’t really seem to notice
It has been challenging…I’ve been through all sorts of emotions: anger, frustration, disgust, despair:
Covid-19 authoritarianism
Politically sanctioned breakdown of law and order
Censorship of free speech
But no matter how bad it got, there was always 50% of the country that didn’t seem to mind
And this whole time I kept asking myself why people don’t see what I am seeing?
I even went through this exercise of going back and forth with my college buddy “Generic Dave”, who I would not categorize as progressive, about his decision to vote Biden
For the life of me, I could not understand why he would vote Biden

But I now get it
Trump managed to tap into the visceral anger and frustration of people opposed to the progressive left
Owning the libs at the highest level of government was cathartic
The only problem is that just as many people have a visceral hatred of Trump
It doesn’t matter if it’s justified or not, it just is
And the result has been that progressive radicals have managed to dominate the political agenda of the left because they were the ones yelling the loudest at Trump
Disagree with their politics? Then you’re a “fascist Trump supporter?
No matter how outrageous the progressive radicals behaved, there was no blowback from the moderate left because Trump was the bigger issue
Classic liberals cowered to the loudest and most intransigent members of their coalition
Last year, a group of liberals signed an open letter in Harper’s Magazine calling for more free speech and debate: A Letter on Justice and Open Debate
I also remember being hopeful back then, but nothing ever came of it
But lately, things have started to change
Without Trump sucking all the oxygen out of the room, moderates on the left have started pushing back against the illiberal radical progressives
Dave Chappelle had the courage to stick to his principles and deliver a politically incorrect comedy special
I was flabbergasted to see two liberals publicly admit that CRT is being taught in schools and that it’s wrong!

Without the spotlight being on Trump, people are looking around and realizing that the radical progressive agenda is garbage and does not align with their values
Republicans had no business winning in Virginia or being a toss-up in New Jersey…these are firmly blue states
But here we are
I’ve repeatedly told people who despair at the state of things that they should wake up, speak up and vote
And that’s what happened on Tuesday
One year too late? Yeah, but better nate than lever
A lot of you are justifiably angry with what you’ve had to put up with in the last years, and I get that, but now is not the time to “own the libs”

They are the ones pushing back and you don’t get them on your side by yelling at them
I do think a reckoning is due for the people responsible for the illiberal authoritarianism we’ve had to endure…I’m not saying you should have grace for Anthony Fauci or Joe Biden
But don’t hate your neighbors, that doesn’t help
I’m not saying that the fight against creeping radical progressive authoritarianism is over, but at least for one day I am hopeful
I’ve been waiting for the day when the American people would send a strong message to Democrats and that day has finally arrived
Hopefully, they get the message, but I’m not holding my breath
I'm perplexed, why should people blindly vote Democrat? I am 50 years old now - name an democratic initiative that has been implemented in which it has advantaged this nation?
Nancy Pelosi refused to impeach George W. Bush for lying us into the Iraq war. That war killed between 100,000 and 1,000,000 Iraqis over a lie. Yet, she was perfectly willing to try to remove Trump twice, over entirely trivial matters.
Obama was elected under the banner of "Hope and Change" and he went from bombing Afghanistan and Iraq - to bombing Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, Libya, and Syria. Do you know why the US was actually bombing Syria? It's because a company called Genie Energy made an agreement with Israel to mine the oil resources of the Golan Heights - Syrian land under Israeli occupation. It had nothing to do with "Assad gassing his people" - EVEN if he did, and it's unlikely. We know the Douma chemical attack never happened, it's quite possible the Ghouta chemical attack never happened or was a false flag staged by the CIA or Mossad or Mi6 of some terrorist group under their wing.
Go find out who is in the "Strategic Advisory Board" of Genie Energy. That's who Obama was working for when he was murdering Syrians. Every war the US enters since 2000 has begun with a lie - doesn't matter who is the meat puppet pretending to be president.
The republican party is not the answer, but 4 years ago, you had a classic 1960's Democrat run for the Republican nomination and won the presidency, because he was running against an evil Neocon warmonger named Hillary Clinton. Because of her policies as secretary of state Libya now has slavery markets.
The result of having this lifelong classic democrat as president was 4 years of endless propaganda, obvious propaganda, blatantly obvious propaganda. I learned in that time that the "liberals" I once identified with have no morals and no principles. Now we really have a president that should be removed by the 25th amendment, but of course his only real job is reading a teleprompter and taking orders from the military industrial complex - that's our real president, just as it was when Obama was "president", just as it was when George W. Bush was "president".
I would be cautious taking advice from Martin Luther King - anybody promoted by our propaganda machines should be approached with caution. I wish more people would read Malcolm X.
That’s great for the US, I’ve always had hope for you because of FL and other states. I am thoroughly depressed about my nation, Canada, however.
Nova Scotia is one of the worst provinces for stripping freedoms. We elected a right of center party in my province of Nova Scotia in August and I hoped things would change. Instead, we got a Vax mandate and passport-esque system in October, we are still wearing f**king masks by fiat, still being warned of more possible lockdowns. My province has maintained a technical “State of Emergency” for over 18 months, essentially suspending rights, and they just auto-renew it every 2 weeks…
I had hope, but the supposed right-of-centre gov is identical to the left-of-centre on it replaced. :(
And no one cares. 80% poll for vax mandates, so here we are… there is no backlash, no lamenting the abrogation of our rights and no ability to do basic math around the C19 topics.
You are lucky in the US. I can only pray we wake up here soon, as I’m a single dad and can’t move away until my kids are older - so I’m stuck in this authoritarian banana republic.
